Exhibition review meeting

When we decided to have a judged show, we agreed that we would allow initial arrangements to stand for a while, then review them. We have now had two judged shows, and it is time to consider whether changes need to be made.

• At Deborah's house in Griffith - for the address, call a committee member.
  

Have your say. We expect to discuss

• judging, including number of judges;
• show categories, including group categories;
• other issues raised by members.

The committee welcomes written or emailed submissions, either broad-ranging or on specific points. They can be posted to the PO Box address, emailed to a committee member or provided via the website.

Warrambui

There are still a few spots left for the Warrambui retreat on the weekend of 12-14 October 2007. $130 includes all accommodation, food, block-of-the-weekend packs and demonstrations. Call Sandy or Joan - details in June and September issues of Connecting Threads.

Gloria Loughman workshop venues

The September issue of Connecting Threads contained details of the workshops Gloria will be running for us (with Queanbeyan Quilters) in October, but said "venues to be announced" -- because with the election looming, any venue that might be used as a polling booth wouldn't commit to other bookings. Venues have now been arranged, and were announced at the September meeting. They are:

Connecting Threads September issue

At the CQ meeting in August I announced that as a trial I would send Connecting Threads by email to interested members. All members should have received their September issue hard copies, but the trial didn't happen, because with the exhibition and all there was too much going on for me to sit down with the software and work out the best way of doing things. I'll try again for the December issue - for which the deadline for advertising and contributions will be Friday 9 November.

Why should Canberra Quilters have a blog?

Connecting Threads is the quarterly newsletter of Canberra Quilters (CQ), the Australian Capital Territory's quilt guild, which holds an evening meeting on the first Thursday of every month. Connecting Threads is distributed to members - and only to members.

The CQ committee members make announcements about future events at evening meetings, but not all members come to the evening meetings - and hardly anyone gets to all of them.
Many of the announcements will have been in Connecting Threads - but again, not all of them. So how do members who don't get to the meeting hear about those announcements?

The CQ committee has decided to create a blog, just as the New South Wales Quilters Guild has done, to keep members (and others who are interested) up to date on what's happening between meetings.
